Hannah Battershell is a self-taught Bristol-based multidisciplinary artist. Over her years of exhibiting she has produced a wide variety of work - miniature portraits on buttons; delicate layered paper landscapes; cyanotype prints; automata; stop-motion animations - characterised by its intricate detail, playful humour and strong sense of narrative.
Battershell’s work demonstrates her fascination with narrative as a way to imaginatively connect to the more-than-human world. Through reference to myth, folktale and stories of Battershell’s own invention, she seeks to transport the viewer to other realms, and in doing so, to re-enchant this one. Her work is in private collections across the world and has appeared in various festivals, fairs and exhibitions including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and The Other Art Fair.
